If I had to pick a go-to drink for this time of year, I’m going with a White Russian. Mostly because I’m a coffee fanatic, and I don’t like eggnog very much…. This twist on a White Russian is pretty incredible, if I must say so. I can’t take complete credit for it though. Kris found a recipe to make Christmas cookie shots for our friends’ Christmas dinner last weekend, and then I turned the shots into an actual cocktail, a Christmas Cookie White Russian.
For this drink, you start with the Christmas cookie shot – 1 oz of Kahlúa, 1 oz of Baileys, and 1 oz of peppermint or cinnamon schnapps . We went with ULLR schnapps because it’s flavored with both peppermint and cinnamon. I really liked the flavor combination of the Kalhúa, Baileys, and ULLR, kinda like a snickerdoodle sugar cookie type of thing going on… Some people thought it was a little cough syrupy, probably the peppermint cinnamon schnapps. Cinnamon is one of my favorite spices though, so I thought it tasted great! Maybe liked it a little too much 😉
I heart kahlúa, especially in my coffee. I choose it over Baileys, but mixing Kahlúa and Baileys together is actually pretty amazing, a little trick we learned from my cousins while on rafting trips. So the addition of ULLR to the drink was perfect. While I liked the Christmas Cookie shots on their own, I’d rather have a drink to sip on than shots…. Thus the creation of the Christmas Cookie White Russian. In addition to the Kalhúa, Baileys, and ULLR, I added 1 oz of coffee, crushed ice, and then topped it off with whole milk. Perfection! The perfect Christmas twist on a White Russian and now my new holiday drink.
