I almost forgot that today was seven months. It snuck up on me. September went by fast, and it was a hard month – just getting past the six month mark, my birthday, what would have been my fifth wedding anniversary, Kris and I started dating in September, a quick trip to L.A….
At least it ended on a high note.…
I’m going to a dietitian food blogger conference this week. It’s called Blog Brûlée, kind of a big deal in the dietitian food blogger and healthy food blogger world. I received an invite to apply for the conference in January but wasn’t sure if I should do it or not. I was worried about the cost of the flight because it’s in Vermont. No easy way to get from Boise, Idaho to Burlington, Vermont. Kris insisted that I apply. He even said he’d fly out with me and hangout with someone he knew who lived in the New England area…a coworker maybe? I really have no idea…
I was accepted to the conference on March 1st, the day after Kris died. I emailed the founders of the conference and asked for an extension on accepting the invitation. In May I decided to attend the conference. At the time, it seemed like September was so far away.…
Friday, September 14th, 2018 would have been Kris and my fifth wedding anniversary. We were married for four and a half years when he died, together for seven and a half years. We knew each other for eight years.
This is one of the hardest days to get past. I’ve been thinking about Kris all week, more than normal, about our wedding, and how we celebrated our anniversary the last four years. …
